The Last Arcadia is a fantasy feline roleplay where you take part in a twisted game of fate.  Our story is loosely based off “The Maze Runner,” “Avatar the Last Airbender,” “The Hunger Games” series and any games that incorporate the butterfly effect.  Our world is designed like “The Scorch Trials” in “The Maze Runner,” the plot is integrates twisted games like “The Hunger Games” and contestants of the game are gifted powers inspired by “Avatar the Last Airbender” and factions like “Divergent.”

You and your character are put into situations where you will have to use your wit and imagination to survive in an arena style setting.  The game’s contents are unknown to players until you face them -- all you will know is that there are four rounds that are full of unique challenges that must be completed in order to move onto the next round.  Rounds are packed with trials that progress throughout the round. Don't worry though, you don't go into it alone! You are put into teams (of around 8 players) and given special powers (Spirit Groups), which you can use as creatively as you can imagine, to help you throughout the game.

Upon joining us you must take our initiation test (a brief questionnaire) which helps the team assign you your Spirit Group. Once you have been designated a Spirit Group, you will be later assigned to a team.

The game is comprised of four distinct rounds consisting of challenges, puzzles, riddles and surprises meant to push both you and your team to their limits as you work to progress.  To succeed, we recommend out-of-character discussion and planning between players on Discord. You are put into a private Discord chat with your team where you and the team can do all your planning and decision-making.  Our game relies on something called the butterfly effect to operate, in which every decision you and your team make will carve the path for your future when it comes to reacting to events and plot posts. Just remember: Make decisions based on your character’s personality, not yours!

Surprise is the best part of our story.  Players won’t know the round’s contents before their characters do, so you must be prepared to go into situations blind.  Another thing: Every action has an equal opposite reaction, so be aware that your character’s choices have consequences on themselves, others, and the plot – including injury and death.  However, your character will ONLY die if the player fails to remain active or drops out of the roleplay altogether. So don’t worry too much! Just be active and you have nothing to worry about.

Through the rounds, there will be opportunities for your character to level up.  Prompts are sent out before each round and periodically within them, and each completed prompt is +1 level to your character.  Leveling up grants characters a new power from their Spirit Group, enabling them to grow stronger as the game demands more out of them.  Players have all the freedom in the world to use the powers as they see fit – think outside the box when you use them. We want you and your character to experience the challenges of learning them, coming up with cool ways to stun us with them, and using them to their best potentials!

Gameplay is 100 percent up to you as the player!  TLA has no rules or guidelines on how to play the game other than to remember to play according to your character and not yourself in order to keep things realistic.  We have purposely designed a game where you won't know right from wrong so you'll never know what's coming next.  There is no right or wrong way to play the game, but know that your character's in-canon actions may have in-canon consequences.  Ultimately, it is up to you as the player to decide how to play the game.

You will be assigned a team for each round and it is up to you as the individual to decide if your character will be a team player or a rogue who fights for themselves.  While you must stick with your team in-canon, how your character teams their team is entirely up to you.  You are allowed to fight other characters, and only need permission to do so if your goal is to seriously injure or try killing them.

Before each round, players are expected to fill out team questionnaires which will foreshadow the teammates you will receive for that round.  Admins read everyone’s questionnaires and assemble teams based off the responses with the aim to make cohesive teams. There is no changing your team once it’s set unless there’s dire conflict between members or something of that nature.  Part of the questionnaire includes a section to list people you would not like to work with, and we take that question very seriously; we will not put anyone in a team with someone they don't feel comfortable with for whatever reason.

Teams will consist of no less than six characters and no more than ten. They will consist of a variety of Spirit Groups so no one team lacks certain abilities. You and our teammates will have to figure out how to use all of your powers to work together to complete challenges, or you can be completely destructive and go for each other’s throats.  As the gameplay states, there's no right or wrong way to go about it! Teams are designed to be fun for you, so you won't need perfect team cohesion to advance. It's all about using your imagination and intelligence. There will be plenty of ways to win the game without following the cold-cut method.

We are a forum-based roleplay with a Discord for casual chat. Our proboards forums can be found here: thelastarcadia.boards.net/

Rounds will have distinct areas in which you can roleplay in with your team. Each round or objective has instructions on how to go about roleplaying. You won't know what you have to do until given the instructions, but they are precise and easy to understand.

Between rounds there’s some down time where players can roleplay together or simply take a break until the next round begins.
